Barmy about baking.
Hello. My name is Julian and I LOVE BAKING. It’s good to see you. Pull up a chair and get comfortable. I will tell you a little bit about myself and why I’ve decided to start this blog.
Fancy a cake?
Finding recipes and trying them out takes up a huge amount of my time. I even come up with recipes of my own every now and then. I bake as a way to beat the stresses of everyday life. To escape from the storm into the peace and calm of my kitchen. Baking is joyful and, for me anyway, the single best thing about baking is knowing that something you have made has brought pleasure to the person who is eating it.
The best policy.
I always try to be honest. Tell the truth and shame the devil. The cakes and bakes that feature in this blog will not look like they came from a shop. That is because they did not come from a shop. I want you to see how these recipes turned out for me because I want you to have the best information I can give to help you to decide if YOU want to make them too. There is nothing worse than making a cake only to find there is something amiss in the recipe. That there was not enough sugar or the oven temperature was too high and the cake is burnt to a cinder. I want to give you recipes that are worth making so you don’t end up wasting your money or your time.
Reasons to be joyful.
Though most of the contents of this blog will be recipe related, I should mention that I also collect recipe books and baking tins. I have a passion for a good Bundt tin that in psychology circles would probably be considered obsessive. Now we all know that material possessions are not the best way to judge a good life, but they do have the ability to gladden the heart. So there may well be recommendations for things that I personally love, in the hope that you will love them too and try to seek them out for yourself. Right, that’s enough chat. Shall we begin?
